Somi Somi is a soft serve ice cream shop in Koreatown. While their soft serve is delicious, the real star of the show is the waffle cone, and I mean literal waffle cone. The cone is a soft, fluffy waffle shaped like a goldfish. Honestly, this is not the most practical idea because it quickly turns into a mess, albeit a very delicious mess. Once the ice cream starts to melt it saturates the waffle making it even less structurally sound than it was to begin with, then the ice cream begins to seeps through the waffle. I probably went through a dozen napkins!

There were four flavors; matcha, milk, black sesame, and ube. There are also two swirl options that switch week to week. When I went to Somi Somi, it was matcha swirled with milk and black sesame swirled with ube. I got matcha with milk and my sister got black sesame with ube. All of the flavors were very good! If you are intimidated by the flavors I would go with milk because it just tastes like sweetened cream (kind of vanilla-adjacent).

You also get to choose a filing and toppings for no extra charge. For my filling, I went with Nutella and my sister chose custard and we both chose rainbow sprinkles for our toppings. I think the filings might have been my favorite part! It really elevated the experience for me because it felt like eating a waffle-crepe stuffed with ice cream!

Somi Somi is in a little shopping center in Koreatown, so I would suggest parking in the H-mart parking structure on Manhattan. The structure is pretty narrow, so it might be a tight squeeze if you have a large car. Somi Somi is located on the second floor and they will validate for that structure, so then parking is free!
