This year is the Chargers first season in Los Angeles! The Chargers were founded in 1960 and played their first season in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego. They played in San Diego until 2017, when they moved back to Los Angeles.
Currently, the Los Angeles Chargers are playing at StubHub center, where the Los Angeles Galaxy (the soccer team) plays. It’s a smaller stadium than the Coliseum (where the Los Angeles Rams play) and it’s smaller than most NFL stadiums, but I like the size. If you want to sit in shade I would recommend getting seats on the south or west side of the stadium. The seats behind the goal posts are benches, and the seats on either side of the field are regular stadium seats.
If you want to park at StubHub Center, you have to pre-purchase a parking pass by calling 1-877-CHARGERS. You can also purchase same-day parking for $40-$100 depending on the lot. Those parking lots are first come first serve. You can also park for free at the Harbor Gateway Transit Center or the Del Amo Station and take the complimentary Chargers Express to and from the stadium.
I really enjoyed the smaller stadium. StubHub Center had some fun Los Angeles beers and also some fun food options, including an area with food trucks! The walkways were wide and made it so the stadium never felt overcrowded. I will say, the two times I’ve been to a game the stadium hasn’t been overwhelmed with Chargers fans. There have been almost equal amounts of Chargers fans and fans of the opposing team. I still really enjoyed the experience of seeing a Chargers game in L.A.! The stadium is nice and they’ve done a good job including tributes to Los Angeles through the food and beer. The Chargers have made it clear that they’re going to #fightforla.
