Blue Jam Cafe is probably LA’s most popular brunch chain. It was opened in 2006 in Hollywood by a pair of Czechoslovakia immigrants, with the idea to make a casual cafe that utilizes local and organic ingredients to create gourmet, European-inspired dishes at an affordable price. 13 years later, Blu Jam Cafe now has 6 locations throughout LA and 2 in Tokyo. Whichever location you go to, be prepared for a bit of a wait. It is very popular, and everything is made fresh-to-order, there are no freezers at any Blu Jam Cafe location

Their signature dish is the Crunchy French Toast. Made with brioche dipped in batter and rolled in cornflakes, this dish is very popular. Personally, I didn’t love it. It was good, but I’m not much of a French toast person, and I’m not a fan of cereal. However, it is a fun, novelty dish to share if you’re into cereal and/or French toast.

I went with my sister. She ordered the Burgundy Omelette and I got the Morning Hash. Both were great! I think I preferred the Burgundy Omelette because it came with grilled potatoes, which were amazing! I also think goat cheese makes everything better. Even so, I was a big fan of my Morning Hash. There’s something about a hash that feels very homey to me, in a good way. The ham and the sun-dried tomatoes added some great flavor to the dish.

There’s a reason Blu Jam Cafe is so popular in Los Angeles. The food is great, the atmosphere is nice, and I can’t wait to go back!
