Seoul Sausage started out as a food truck owned by two brothers and their good friend. They competed in and won the reality TV show The Great Food Truck Race. Now they have two permanent locations in L.A. and they’re opening a third location in Ventura County soon!

My favorite of the two current locations is the original, in West L.A. The restaurant itself is very small- you can see the entire kitchen from the entrance. You order at the counter and seating is limited to bar-style or a few tables out front. The Downtown L.A. location is much bigger. There are waiters and a full bar and lots of tables, however, I think it loses some of the food truck-esque charm the original location has.

Seoul Sausage is famous for its fun take on Korean food. The Galbi Beef Sausage, served in a bun with aioli sauce is my personal favorite (the downtown L.A. location also adds fried onion pieces, but I prefer it without). Another classic is the flaming balls. Their most popular dish during The Great Food Truck Race, Flaming Balls, are fried rice balls packed with kimchi (spicy pickled cabbage, a Korean staple). Another one of my favorites is the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) which is made up of small pieces of fried chicken and radishes with a sweet and sour sauce for dipping. Honestly, I like everything I’ve tried from Seoul Sausage, so you really can’t go wrong.

In both locations parking is limited to street parking, so bring quarters and be prepared to walk a little.
